Thermal conductivity of the gadolinium calcium silicate apatites: Effect of different point defect types
نویسندگان
چکیده
The gadolinium calcium silicates having the apatite crystal structure can accommodate a wide range of point defects, including oxygen and cation vacancies, as well as anti-site defects, depending on the Gd/Ca ratio. Compositions having only cation or oxygen vacancies were identified and the thermal diffusivity and conductivity were measured up to 1000C. All the compositions, including the stoichiometric composition, exhibit low thermal conductivities from room temperature to high temperature with the defect-containing compositions having even lower thermal conductivities. The high temperature thermal conductivity, at temperatures below the onset of significant radiative heat transport, decreases with the inverse square root of the cation and anion vacancy concentration, consistent with simple defect scattering models. Based on the data, it is concluded that the oxygen vacancies are slightly more effective in reducing thermal conductivity. * Now at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing 100124.

Effect of Heat Recirculation in Biomass Flame Stability within a Cylindrical Micro-Combustor (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Flame stability inside a cylindrical micro-combustor was studied. Considering occurrence of heat recirculation, the respective relations were written and with parameters such as motion speed of reactants, flame propagation speed and thermal conductivity of the combustor’s wall, flame stability and its location inside micro-combustor were studied. It was found that for each thermal conductivity ...

To evaluate the physiological responses of chrysanthemum to silicon spray in non-stress conditions, this study was performed in two separate experiments (at 4 to 5 and 8 to 12-leaf stages) as a factorial randomized completely design with two factors: silicon source (in two levels: sodium silicate and calcium silicate) and the concentration of silicate at five levels (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg ...
متن کاملCalcium-silicate mesoporous nanoparticles loaded with chlorhexidine for both anti- Enterococcus faecalis and mineralization properties
BACKGROUND In infected periapical tissues, Enterococcus faecalis is one of the most common dominant bacteria. Chlorhexidine has been proved to show strong antibacterial ability against E. faecalis but is ineffective in promoting mineralization for tissues around root apex. Mesoporous calcium-silicate nanoparticles are newly synthesized biomaterials with excellent ability to promote mineralizati...

متن کاملPreparation of MCM-41 nanofluid and an investigation of Brownian movement of the nanoparticles on the nanofluid conductivity
In this investigation the silicate nano structure of MCM-41 has been used for the production of nanofluid. The particles have negligible heat conductivity and therefore by their dispersion in a base fluid like water, it is possible to study the increase of heat conductivity due to the Brownian motion effects. In this work a suitable apparatus for the measurement of heat conductivity has been bu...
